Finishing my angel-projects

This Sunday I am going to finish two projects heading "over there" to my stitcher`s angel. Since she doesn`t know who I am yet, I will only give you a sneak peak.

I am still waiting in anticipation for the mailman to bring me something nice from my secret angel. All I know is that she is from Hungary. Oh, can hardly wait :)

Today I had a small disaster in my sewingroom.

My bookcase has been moved a numerous of times, and has finally given in. This means I have to make a trip to Ikea in the near future.

Have fun sewing!

More Grimstad fun

The retreat was a great success, everything went smoothly and people were enjoying themselves.

Lovely quilts hanging everywhere for us to admire and touch.

No retreat without shopping....

Or food! My favourite was the desserts, he he.

I took a class by Kari Melsom, and made star tablecloths. It was genious, we used three fabrics, and ended up with three totally different looks. Karis new book is coming out shortly, and I can`t wait to get my hands on it.

These are not mine, although I wish they were.

We manage to squeeze in a visit to the local quiltstore, Meretes Atelier, allthough she had a stand at the hotel. She has a lot of Green Gate products as well. The other shop present at the retreat was Quilten from Arendal. The staff in both the stores were helpful and friendly, it was a joy spending money there.

In my last post I showed you all my winnings. Here is what I purchased. Some of the fabrics has four different motifs! If that is not genious I don`t know what is.

A lucky gal!

Check out the great prizes I won at the quilt retreat in Grimstad!!!

It is 48 spools of thread in this box. 48 spools!!!!

My luck didn`t stop there, oh no! I also won a 10" Clearview Triangle, a great book I don`t have in my library, a sampler kit from Guterman and a lovely Sushi Jelly Roll from Lecien. My friend Anne (no blog) won two prices, and together we took half of the prices. It was Christmas in September, lol.

Taking a quilting trip to Grimstad

Last weekend six good friends and myself drove for more than five hours to join a quilt retreat in beautiful Grimstad, a small coast town in the south of Norway.

This is my kind of scenery! I love the ocean, and often miss it as I don`t live close to it anymore.

Grimstad is a pittoresque little town, with narrow alleys and old wooden houses that almost leans against the rocky surroundings.

Now this is what I call a front door!!

Fancy a summer home? I do!!

Stay tuned, I will be back with more stuff from this trip.

Uhuuu

Halloween does not stand strong as a tradition in Norway, but the last few years it has become more common to go "trick or treat". My kids immediately adopted the custom, as they embrace everything that involves candy, he he... So every year mum (me) has to make witch cake, decorate the house and make lanterns out of pumpkins, and the kids invites the neighbours over for a visit.

I found this panel a couple of years back, and made the fastest quilt I have ever made...vrooommm....

I made this quilt the same year, (come to think about it, it was my very first design :)). Not very breath taking, but my boys loves these quilts. My little darlings has already started the countdown for this years Halloween, so I guess we`ve got ourselves a new tradition? ;)

Ringeriksdagen (the annual town market)

Boy, is my head still spinning!!!!!! I have spent a fun and exhausting day at the town square, representing my quilting guild together with fellow board members. We put up, in our opinion, a lovely display of our members quilts. Diversity was the key word, and we manage to show different techniques and styles.

It was genious to have a "test run" of the booth design last night. It was piece of cake putting our booth up today, and we could sit down and relax while others struggled to get ready on time.

A lot of people admired the quilts, and hopefully we will get some new members.

Next year we will order twice the space we had this year, and we plan to bring along a sewingmachine as well. The quilting guild is celebrating 20 years next year, and we are going to celebrate that all year long.
