The king of the woods

Just had to show you who visited us a couple of days ago.

This fella spent the whole day snacking on apples from our neighbours old apple tree. (On the left you see bee hives). The Norwegian woods are full of mooses. This winter has been long, cold and with lot of snow, so food is hard to come by. Good thing nobody harvested this tree.

Happy birthday!

This month it is 20 years since my quilting guild, Ringerike Quilte Klubb, was founded! We just had to throw a birthday party!!

A lot of the members came that night, for coffee and cake (I would show you a picture of the deliscious cake, but I ate it.....not the whole I mean..) raffle and shopping.

Lille Stasjon visited us, temting us with lots and lots of nice stuff. I will show you my buyings later.

Oh, so much goodies........

And more.........

Pure heaven for a quilting gal!

Naturally we had show and tell. I didn`t manage to get pictures of every quilt, (reason: distracted by cake), but some of the goodies I manage to record.

Kari Wenche (no blog) made this cute table cloth, her first project involving this technique. I believe she handquilted it as well.

My friend Bente (no blog) made this dream if a gorgeous quilt, and has handquilted it.

I was absolutely stunned when Bente showed me this wonderful quilt, made from a pattern by Leannes House. I immediately went online, and ordered the pattern for Leannes new BOM. Now I am patiently (!!) waiting for it to come to me all the way from Australia.

Josephine the Jellyfish

Yesterday I stitched this cute block from Willowberry Designs free BOM called Under the Sea. (The link is on the right side). Meet Josephine the Jellyfish! Is she cute or what?

My kids are to old for this quilt, so I will give it to charity when it is finished. I plan to give it to a institution in my town that looks after multi handicaped children.

A finish!

At last, my Manly Quilt is finished! My lower back has been acting up the last few days, so I am very pleased with myself.

This quilt is a delayed christmas present for my brother, a token of gratitude for the countless times he has rescued me from all kinds of computer problems (often self-inflicted..). Hopefully my new laptop will cause less trouble, after I have called my brother tonight for installment assistance.......hm...does that mean that I have to make him another quilt???

More fabric!

Yesterday my fabrics finally arrived, and I am ready to start a new project. That is, as soon as the pattern is out for sale, mind you. I have been so exited about this project (like jumping up and down exited), that I just had to mail Crabapple Hill, asking for the release date of the pattern. It will be out for sale in the end of this month or the beginning of February. So, I guess I just have to be a little bit more patient.

My sweet little Jelly Roll

Have any of you checked out Crabapple Hill lately? My heart almost stopped when I saw the picture of a soon to be released pattern called Susan`s Dresden Garden. It was love at first sight, and all though I have no clue about the size of the quilt, I immediately started the search for the fabrics.

Today this gorgeous jelly roll waited for me when I got home from work. Oh, it is simply adorable. It has travelled all the way from USA. A few days after I placed this order, I found another online shop who sold this line by the yard. Naturally I had to order more, and now I am waiting impatiently for the fabrics. I went on line to track the shipment, and to my distress I found that arrived in Oslo almost a week ago! Oh, I need my fabrics, get moving you people!!!

Round Robin Sunday

Hege and I got together today, and the project was to sew together this charityquilt. This is part of a Round Robin we started in our quilting guild a couple of years ago. The plan was to sew four quilts, one for each season. As the contribution slowed down, we had to change our plans, and we have ended up making three quilts that is ment to hang side by side. Our job was to sew together the biggest panel.

It is a challenge putting together blocks made by many different quilters. Would we manage to fit it all together? It was surprisingly easy!! Two heads thinks better than one!

Here is the result so far. There is still a few things that has to be done, a little bit of applicue and the outer border. I think this quilt is coming together very well.

The rest of the weekend was spent sewing blocks to my Gutta Boys-quilt. Only four more blocks to go, puh........

And the winner is......

Today is the 15th, and it is time to announce the lucky winner of my give away. But before I do, I would like to thank all of you who left a comment on my blog. It has been great fun, and I will be back with another give away before too long.

I was prepared to send the price to the other side of the world. However, the package don`t have to travel very long, since the winner is a Norwegian quilter. The lucky winner is:

Marit Johanne

I have e-mailed Marit the good news, and will send the stuff as soon as I receive her adress.

And now I have to lift my big you-know-what, and finish my Manly-quilt! (Well, sometimes this weekend anyway).

He loves me, he loves me not...

Last week a lovely surprice was brought to me by the postman. (Well, postwoman actually). As some of you know, I fell for the temptation, and signed up for this years BOM from Lappemakeriet. The BOM is called "Loves me, loves me not", and my chosen color combination is called "A gardner". The other option is "A sailor". Lovely fabrics, but "A sailor" is too similar to the fabrics in Gutta Boyz, another BOM I joined two years ago.

And here you see the first three blocks! The fabric for the circle in the middle arrives in a later shipment. These blocks are quick and fun to make, and it will be a piece of cake making three each month.

New year resolution

I have, like many of you I bet, huge piles of scrap fabric. I can not bring myself to throw them, so they lay around in an increasing number of boxes, taking up valuable space in my sewing room. Last fall I attended a class at Lappemakeriet, held by Hanne. She taught us handpiecing the american way.

I love this technique, and it is fab when it comes to working my way into the scrap piles. So, I have decided that from now on I will use any fabric leftovers right away, and cut out hexagons for later use. This techniqe is great for any blocks you like to sew.
