Me in my national costume

18 years ago I started embroidering this festive costume from Tromsoe (my home town). It took me 3 years to finish it. This year is the first in 12 years that the costume fitted me again, and it was fun to be able to wear it on our national day and again at a wedding yesterday. The blue fabric is a fine woolfabric, and the shirt and apron is made from raw silke. The big flowers (called Tromsoe palms) is made with heeps of french knots ( I got to be quite an expert).

Have fun sewing!

  1. Fine pia i flott bundad! Nydelig bunad og så ekstra morro når du har sydd den selv :o)

  2. Så flott å se deg i bunaden. Det står utrolig respekt av at du har kommet deg inn i den igjen. Ønsker deg all lykke til videre med alt. Noen ganger må man ta de rette valgene.

  3. Nydelig bunad, og så artig det må være at du har sydd den selv og at den passer etter så mange år. Flott!

  11. Tromsøbunaden er kjempefin. Min Nordlandsbunad har dessverre krympet i skapet.
