Why use words?

My job is pretty hectic, a lot to do every day. You would think that my brain had enough to focus on?? And yet, ever so often an idea drops into my head while I am working. Boom! Just like that. This is one of my latest idea. We have lawyers at work, which goes on daily rounds to help us solve legal problems. If you want the lawyer to stop by your office, you hang up a sign at the door.



So, I have made a sign, spelling the Norwegian word for lawyer in a bit more pictorial way. Hm, this is a bit tricky to translate to those of you who doesn`t speak or read Norwegian. Hopefully you see the the fun of it. And yes, the first motif is that big thing that dangles under mrs. Cow. (I don`t know the English word for it, lol).

Two finishes

Today I have finished two projects. The first one is a baby comfort quilt. I have called it Fairies-in-my-garden Baby Quilt. (Yep, a long and somewhat pompous name). I have sewed a lot of good whishes into it, and hopefully a mum somewhere will pick this quilt for her little baby.





My other finish is a prize for the raffle we are having during our Jubilee Exhibition, taking place the 9th to 11th of April. It is a tea bag-holder. Easy to sew, but a little tricky to fit.

Winner!

My friend Kari (no blog) won the 3rd place in the open competition at the annual quilt meeting. The theme was Onesome, twosome, threesome.

Goodies!

The Norwegian Quilt Associations annual meeting is over, and I look forward to a good night sleep in my own bed. I am exhausted!! It has been great fun, and I have met a lot of wonderful people. I made myself a promise, that I wouldn`t go overboard with my purchases! Did I make it?? Hm, not really..........



I was thrilled when I found Cottage Garden Thread at Quiltegaarden. It is beautiful hand dyed thread from Australia.



I bought the pattern Garden Sampler to practice my needleturn applique. Leka has promised to teach me, she is a wizard when it comes to needleturn ( and everything else come to think of it). Come on Leka, Tromsø next year??



More lovely fabrics and pattern. I am planning to make a baby quilt in the near future.



I just had to buy this pattern from Bunny Hill Designs. I loved the delicate purple and green fabrics.




Finally something that didn`t cost money. The Buggy Barn book and the book on the right I won. I bought the Crowning Glories at a book sale. It costed the huge amount of 20 kroner (less than 5 US dollars).

Good morning :)

A new day here at the annual quiltmeeting. The breakfast has been delivered at our door, and everybody is more or less awake.



Last night we met a legend within the japanese quilt tradition, Yoko Saito. She designes fabrics and patterns for Lecien, and has given out 25 (!!) books over the years. Good news to those of us that loves her patterns but can`t understand japanese - she is planning to release a book in English next year!!! She has two wonderful quilts to display here at the exhibition. I hope I am allowed to take pictures, so I can show you folks later.



The cute little make-up bag I won yesterday is made by this lady, Kari Melsom. She is a popular author and quilt teacher in Norway, and a huge source of inspiration.

NQF`s Annual Meeting

My day started 04 am, when my little Max (puppy) started to throw up next to my bed. I am thinking about changing his name to Hoover or something, this doggy eats EVERYTHING he comes over! I called the vet, and she don`t think there is anything seriously wrong.

My morning shower didn`t make my day either. Someone used up my shampoo, and did not tell me about it. I ended up using the kids shampoo, so now my hair smells like strawberry bubblegum!

Anyway, I am now blogging to you from the annual quilt meeting, and so far I am thrilled! I have allready won a book and a make-up bag, and spent a lot of money.




I am sleeping up there........

Countdown

Hi folks!

Sorry for the slow blogging this week, things have been pretty hectic the last few days. Tomorrow I leave for the annual quiltmeeting at the Norwegian Quilt Association, the big quilthappening of the year! Check out the great accommodations we will be enjoying this year!

I am taking with me Mr. Laptop, and plan to do some serious blogging througout the weekend.

A finish!

At last, the Goodbye quilt is finished! Puh, the making of this quilt has been intence, and I look forward to start on other projects now.

Top finished

Ok folks, the Goodbye quilt top is finished! I am pleased with the result, hope you are too.



Hm, I wonder if he has got a big hallway or something, so he can hang it up on a wall?



A close up at the star border and outer border. The outer border fabric is a treasure I have saved for some time now. Not easy to see, but there is some blue in it. Under you see some of the blocks with personal greetings. We also had to give him a medal for his commuting skills. Every weekend since 2004 he has droven 6-7 hours each way!!







Well, no rest for the wicked. This quilt has to be finished by Friday, so back to work!

Stars done

I have now added stars to the Goodbye Quilt. I really feel they have lifted the quilt a level or two. My problem is that I chosed the border fabric after I had finished sewing the ninepatch-blocks, and the border fabric is not so bright as the blue fabrics I used in the middle. So I had to make a plan, finding a way to create a "colorbridge".



I tried to tone the colours a little bit down in the starborders. I really like these borders :). Now I only have to add the outer borders, and the top is done. As usual the quilt will end up bigger than I planned, just like my knitting (ex knitting, don`t do that stuff anymore) lol

Working on the Goodbye Quilt

I am spending a few days at home, trying to teach Max not to chew on everything in the house and finishing the Goodbye Quilt. Our colleague is leaving the 12th, so the quilt is to be presented one week from today. No time to lose!



Today I sewed together the middlesection. I have to add some borders to lengthen the quilt, and I am thinking stars. Could add hearts, but we don`t want to give his wife the wrong idea, lol. So, I am thinking stars.
