Loooovely fabrics

A dive into my well hidden stash revealed a forgotten treasure - a whole stack of FQ with the lovely Ruby by Bonnie & Camille.

I spent a whole weekend just feeling the fabric, working out in my head what to sew. I have ordered white fabric, now I just have to find time for some serious cutting. Daisy (my sewing machine) is eager to get started, she need a work out pretty soon!

Vacation project

It has been  fun fun fun stitching this gorgeous Christmas Treasures Wreath from Rosalie Quinlan designs. Darling J is pretty impressed with my stitchery skills, he thought it would take months when he first saw the tiny stitches.

My plan is to make a Christmas cushion, so today I went shopping for the inside filling (what is it called in English I wonder?). I want to make a border, and as I have forbidden myself from buying any more fabric for a while it ment going through my own stash. Not the easiest job since my sewingroom is stuffed into one double closet.

Lucky me I found the cutest Christmas fabric! I`ve forgot I had these gems.

Sunny vacation

This week we took off for a lovely minivacation to the south end of Norway. The weather has been fantastic for weeks, hot and sunny :)

Beautiful surroundings, warm sea water, who could ask for more? This is a little piece of Skottevik near Kristiansand.

On our way down we had to make a pit stop, which I gladely suggested we did at Brokelandsheia. As I am the only quilter in the family no one else knew that Quilteloftet is situatede between gas stations and cafeterias on this tiny spot next to the E18. This nice lady helped me with a much needed vacation project. I bought Christmas Treasures Wreath from Rosalie Quinlan, and the lady in the shop kindly cut and ironed on the fusible interfacing.

In between bathing, excursions and eating with dear kids and darling J. I found time to do some stitching, testing out my new glasses (yes, I have reached the age where I find it difficult to thread the needle, there you have it :)

Getting there........

It is so long since I started on the beautiful Leannes House BOM that I can no longer remember when. We are talking almost a decade!

The last few weeks I`ve got the urge to get on with this project again, and now I have only four tiny hearts to applique before all the nine blocks are ready to be sewn together! I prefer to use freezing paper. This quilt shows my journey as a quilter. As the years went by my tecniques got way better.  I hope to get the top done this weekend.

Fleamarket treasure

I found this little treasure at a fleamarked a while back. A lovely tablecloth, lying on the ground under a table, waiting for a trained quilters eye to spot it :) The border was a thick furniturefabric or curtain. Useless as borderfabric, so off it went. There was no batting inside either. I hope to find a borderfabric that goes with the other fabrics. I am thinking something floral with a white background. Any ideas?
